About the role:
As the Director of Curriculum, you will play a critical role in bringing AI Literacy education to students across the country by leading the design and development of aiEDU’s learning materials. aiEDU’s Learning team is at the center of the organization and the Curriculum Team is the heart of the Learning Team. You will formulate exciting, original ideas for new curricular resources and manage our exceptional team of curriculum developers and instructional designers. As a director, you will play a major role in defining and driving aiEDU’s curriculum strategy to guarantee our students have fun, engaging, and effective learning experiences.
In addition to managing curriculum designers, the Director of Curriculum will collaborate with the Chief Learning Officer on making decisions that impact the entire org. You will work closely with aiEDU’s Professional Learning staff and Programs Team to ensure we are developing and delivering teacher professional development experiences that match the content and quality of our curriculum.

- Location: This full-time, exempt position can be done on a flexible schedule remotely from anywhere in the U.S. with access to high speed internet.The candidate should be comfortable and equipped to work efficiently in a remote work environment.
- Compensation: The baseline compensation for this role is $145,000 - $155,000 depending on experience.

- Start date: We’d like a candidate to start as soon as possible after receiving an offer, though there is some flexibility.
✅ Your Responsibilities:
People Management - 40%
- Manage a team of curriculum developers and designers.
- Work as a role model for your teams, exemplifying company culture, values and principles.
- Shepard and mentor direct reports in setting team and individual goals and monitoring their progress
- Lead weekly team meetings and 1-on-1s with every member of the curriculum department.
- Own the growth and development of all direct reports. Meet with CLO at least one time a week to update progress.
Product Management - 30%
- Manage the entire product lifecycle for new curriculum products meeting the quality standards that aiEDU has established. Lead the design, quality, and release of new products.
- Lead the creation of product roadmaps and delegate ownership and tasks.
Strategy Development - 10%
- Set direction, vision and strategy for a whole department, holding their direct reports accountable for delivery and execution.
- Work with CLO to influence team and org-wide strategy. Propose and execute ideas for curriculum strategy, team development, establishing and maintaining our vision and values, and more.
- Approves staffing and budget decisions for their department.
Hands On Curriculum Development - 10%
- Enthusiastic, direct hands-on development of lessons, projects, slides, and other learning materials. While the role is mostly management, our Curriculum Director should be ready and willing to dive into development when necessary.
Cross Team Coordination and Communication - 5%
- Work with Programs and External teams to ensure every team has a deep understanding of the overall curriculum vision and individual product roadmaps.
- Collaborate with Professional Learning department to align the professional development vision to that of our curriculum
- Manage interdepartmental projects that have impact across the org
✅ Your Impact:
Within 1 Month, You Will:
- Complete aiEDU’s onboarding program, in addition to Learning Team’s specific onboarding, demonstrating full proficiency in company and team procedures, policies, and tools.
- Review and provide high-level feedback for current roadmap and aiEDU’s current curricular products
- Develop at least one new projects/lessons for our Project Dashboard to familiarize yourself with our development style and vision
- Begin meeting weekly with direct reports and CLO to establish rapport and align on preferred management style
Within 3 Months, You Will:
- Lead weekly team meetings and communication channels, aiming to enhance collaboration and receive positive feedback from team members
- Adjust product roadmap if and when necessary with explicit buy-in from the Learning Team
- Begin managing at least one large, impactful project
- Set goals and quarterly OKRs for curriculum department and direct reports
Within 6 Months, You Will:
- Met or exceeded at least %50 of quarterly OKRs
- Ensure direct reports are making clear, measurable progress towards their goals and create growth plans for those who are not
- Lead the product cycle of at least one curricular product
- Update and share the curriculum department’s vision, values, and standards
Within a Year, You Will:
- Successfully lead the department in creating and releasing at least 3 new curricular products
- Develop deep relationships with other members of the Learning Team through consistent and compassionate communication
- Participate in strategic thinking initiatives with CLO
- Propose a detailed, realistic departmental budget for the next 12 months
- Set ambitious team and individual goals for the following year and perform formal reviews for all team members
- Co-lead at least one Learning Team retreat

You might be a great match for this role if you:
- At least four (4) years experience in curriculum development
- Experience as a classroom teacher, particularly in a Title 1 school
- Experience leading or delivering professional development to educators
- Excellent time management skills and ability to manage tasks effectively and independently
- Willingness to take initiative and propose original ideas
- Outstanding management skills with a focus on empathetic, people-first leadership
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Passion for innovation and tech equity in public education..
- Capacity to develop strong relationships with all staff, based on trust, respect, effective communication, and common goals.
- Experience running user-centric teams and design processes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities amid ambiguity and to leverage creative thinking and resourcefulness
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Slack with the ability to produce high quality work products.
