Data Science Manager

Varis, Inc. is seeking to hire an experienced Sr. Data Science Manager for Machine Learning and AI, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of talented data scientists and guiding them in designing, developing, and implementing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities, formulate data strategies, and drive the adoption of advanced analytical techniques to deliver valuable insights and solutions. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the company's data-driven initiatives and contributing to its overall success.

Responsibilities:

•    Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Data Engineers, Data scientists and Ontologists focused on such as Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Ontology based initiatives.
•    Define the roadmap, strategy, and goals aligned with the company's objectives.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges and opportunities where ML and AI techniques can drive impact.
•    Design and develop innovative ML and AI models, algorithms, and solutions to solve complex business problems.
•    Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of data science projects, from problem definition and data collection to model development, deployment, and monitoring.
•    Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in ML and AI research and technology, and assess their potential application within the company.
•    Lead the evaluation and selection of appropriate tools, technologies, and frameworks for data science projects.
•    Ensure the integrity, security, and privacy of data used in ML and AI initiatives.
•    Communicate insights and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions.
•    Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
•    Provide regular performance feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and support the professional growth of team members.
•    Basic understanding of Ontology including Classification (mapping) of products

Requirements:

•    Bachelors or Master's or PhD degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence with a minimum 5 years of management experience
•    Proven experience in leading and managing data science teams, with a focus on ML and AI projects.
•    Strong background in developing and implementing machine learning algorithms, deep learning models, and AI solutions.
•    Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with data manipulation, analysis, and visualization libraries.
•    Hands-on experience with ML and AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.
•    Solid understanding of data engineering concepts and practices to ensure efficient data pipelines for modeling.
•    Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering data-driven solutions that have had a tangible impact on business outcomes.
•    Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
•    Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
•    Experience in deploying ML models to production environments and ensuring their ongoing performance.
•    Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services for data storage and processing is a plus.
