The Opportunity

We are looking for a Data Architect who will help and advise our enterprise clients to translate their requirements into effective data solutions.   

In this role you will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient data solutions for collecting, processing and presenting data from multiple and diverse data sources.  Our projects typically enable a range of client capabilities from building trust in data, real time analytics and visualisation to AI.

At a lower level, you will be comfortable manipulating data in various formats, batch or stream (ETL) or in SQL or NoSQL (ELT). You will also have demonstrable experience managing scalable and resilient  distributed systems, that meet customer demands. You will be familiar with various approaches to data modelling, including 3rd normal form, denormalisation and One Big Table approaches.

Your day to day activities may include:

• Designing and developing efficient data pipelines to handle datasets of varying size.
• Implementing monitoring and performance testing procedures to continuously optimise data quality, lineage and architecture while maintaining  stability and reliability.
• Designing  and implementing appropriate data storage solutions that are cost effective, secure and sustainable. cost-effectively..
• Implementing security and data protection and making data accessible through a variety of different means..
• Working with and supporting the cross functional teams including data engineers, data scientists, and software developers.
• Collaborating with client teams.
• Follow new and emerging technologies.
• Write documentation and guides.
• Contributing to NearForm tooling, communities and open-source projects.

Requirements

As a Data Architect you will be involved in all aspects of platform and application development. We are keen to hire people who can hit the ground running, as such, there are some skills and experience we really need you to have:

• Proven experience as a Data Architect in an enterprise environment
• Strong expertise in ETL/ELT processes, data modelling, and database design
• Strong expertise in cloud solutions, ideally working with GCP and Azure
• Experience with rapid and slow changing, high dimensional data at scale
• Familiarity with Terraform or other infrastructure as code approaches
• Deep understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. Postgres, BigQuery, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc)
• Familiarity with API integration and data transformation techniques
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and lead data-related initiatives
