Data Analyst (Temp to Hire)

*Position Summary*

The Data Analyst is responsible for coordinating with all internal and external stakeholders providing various, complex, and detailed data analysis for all applicable operational areas and/or departments. This role is responsible for effectively identifying and communicating, interdepartmentally, issues and resolutions by effectively applying process improvement and/or problem-solving techniques. The Data Analyst provides analytical and reporting through leadership to the organization and makes well-informed business decisions about our data, consistent with current trends in the healthcare industry. The Data Analyst also investigates and proposes appropriate healthcare industry standards where applicable, such as ISO, HL7, X12, NCPDP, LOINC, SNOWMED, and/or any other necessary standard.

*Key Responsibilities*

a) Performs data analysis at many levels: 1) ad-hoc on demand to sleuth immediate data quality issues, 2) participates in forensic analysis, 3) designs and develops visual analytical presentations that provide insight about data quality, and 4) makes suggestions on the proper data sets to use for situational assignments.

b) Review source to target mapping analysis.

c) Assists end-users with interpretation of data, reports, and analytical results.

d) Performs data quality assessments on proposed data feeds or on existing files and repositories, utilizing manual query methods, visual observation, and/or data profiling tools, resulting in new processes or standards to improve data quality.

e) Collaborates with Data Stewards and contributes to data glossary terms and definitions; researches and studies applicable standards to apply, ensuring crystal clear definitions of data elements.

f) Acts as a data subject matter expert to assist data consumers on proper data selections. Provides knowledge transfer about the organization's data to end users.

g) Understands Business Requirements Documents, resulting in detailed input into the design of new tables and data structures.

h) Assists in creating and teaching data usage training sessions (data boot camps).

i) Gives expert input to and assists with database content decisions, i.e. field naming, data type selection, domain value ranges, etc.

j) Communicates and interacts with IT and business unit subject matter experts to gain a better understanding of how data supports business processes, and contributes to the data modeling effort, frequently suggesting field names and definitions.

k) Participates in project planning and attends project-status meetings while assisting with the management of various project timelines and/or implementation.

l) Contributes to data-related Policies & Procedures utilizing various mediums, including but not limited to flow-chart mapping and written narratives. Actively participates in Data Governance efforts, contributing to the decision-making process.

m) Performs other duties as assigned.

*Demonstrated Skills and Experiences in*
* Experience analyzing data in a big data, data warehouse, or data lake environment.

* Experience in a data-intensive environment with many data subject areas, and the ability to understand the relationships amongst the various healthcare data subject areas.

* Experience in a data management program with knowledge of data governance is desired.

*Knowledge*
* Knowledge of aggregation and drill-down concepts.

* Knowledge of data quality assessment techniques.

* Knowledge of reference data management

*Skills*
* Data flow diagramming of moderately complex systems is a plus.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Demonstrated willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining a constant focus on data quality improvement.

* MS Word and Visio expertise.

*Desired*
* Interest in learning SQL.

* Interest in learning data query software.

* Knowledge of data architecture, relational database design, dimensional design, and denormalization techniques.

* Knowledge of the health insurance industry.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $44.00 - $47.00 per hour
