Moneyworld: Saving made fun.

Moneyworld is a pioneering and whimsical mix between a mobile game and an FDIC-insured bank account (think: Animal Crossing meets Chime) with a mission to make saving money more fun, approachable, and communal for the millions of Americans who struggle to build savings.

By creating a supportive community of savers, we can band together and use our collective strength to get better outcomes for consumers from a banking system that relies on our inertia and often doesn't serve regular people very well.

We’re a small, passionate team of 5 people, have just launched our beta mobile app on both app stores, and have raised $2.5 million in capital...with encouraging early results. Come help us change the financial landscape for the better!

The Role: Creative Director

We're looking for a witty, lighthearted, meticulous, brave Creative Director with a strong feel for tone and humor and a love for bright colors and cute characters with zippy dialogue.

Importantly we want you to swing for the fences on how we communicate an out-of-the-box and counterintuitive approach to savings to potential members and the wider world, who will at first be very confused by it. A banking app that’s also a game???

We already have a visual direction we’re very excited about and are trying to figure out how to build a cohesive tone and voice and brand around it.

We’re hoping you can take the whimsical, nostalgic, fun, contemporary path we’ve started down and turn it into something recognizable and opinionated and understandable - so that new team members and our customers can look at anything we produce and immediately say: That’s the Moneyworld vibe!

As Creative Director you will:

  • Own the way Moneyworld looks, sounds, and feels.

  • Work with our CEO and incredible Art Directors to refine and scale the brand tone of Moneyworld.

  • Get to know the Moneyworld characters (you’ll love meeting Squigs and Joony and Robin), and imagine where their lives and personalities take them in the game.

  • Determine how the characters sound - and what they say - to bring some surprises and smiles to our Moneyworld savers.

  • Figure out (delicately!) how to align the narrative and activities of the Moneyworld game with building money habits. We always want this to feel more like a game than banking app.

  • There are many financial education platforms out there - we want to be something surprising and whimsical and unusual that never feels like it is lecturing people on something as hard as saving.

  • The tone should always be empowering and fun and feel nothing like a savings app or “eating broccoli.”

  • Collaborate with our Art Directors and marketers to scale our creative campaigns: iterate on our early Instagram and Facebook ad campaigns, and chart a course of where we go next! Think as big as possible!

  • Help us imagine how our organic social posts should look and feel (we haven’t started yet) and how they can strike a balance between talking about our savings mission but also tap into the zeitgeist.

  • An inspiration for us is Duolingo. They strike a wonderful balance between fun, nostalgia and being part of pop culture.

  • Help us navigate our way towards working with influencers and building our community of savers.

What qualities and background might you have?

  • 3+ years of Creative Direction at a consumer based app or game, leading a team towards exciting work.

  • A feel for the zeitgeist and a strong grip on tone and how to be funny.

  • Strong writing ability. You can make it punchy and witty and memorable!

  • Experience or passion for either mobile games or fintech.

  • An interest in personal finance and helping Americans build financial foundations in new and surprising ways.

  • Some experience or an understanding of early stage strartups where ambiguity and uncertainty are high, the opportunity to have an impact is huge, and there are never enough hands.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in creating (or love for) comedy or animation geared towards adults.

Please include a link to some of your work! Thanks so much for applying.
