Position Summary
The Corporate Development Analyst will play a key role in supporting our overall M&A process, including market analysis, sourcing, due diligence, transaction execution, and post-close integration efforts. Success in this role requires a strong analytical skillset, sound financial acumen, the ability to combine analytical and qualitative research, a bias for action, and adaptability. This position offers significant growth potential, leading to future opportunities either as an investor or operator.
What you'll do
Sourcing & Market Analysis:
Develop market maps, quantify market sizing, and research industry trends.Conduct proactive outreach to identified targets via email and phone to generate a pipeline of M&A opportunities.Effectively communicate the Colibri story and convince prospects of the mutual fit.Maintain the M&A pipeline in Affinity and track sourcing KPIs.Due Diligence and Transaction Execution:
Develop skills to markup sell-side NDAs and take ownership of initial NDA reviews.Use analytical skills to identify risks and opportunities; develop a comprehensive understanding of the financial profile of target businesses.Manage multiple parties and workstreams to advance acquisitions from LOI to close, including process organization and scheduling.Support the Director with relevant workstreams and develop initial diligence request lists post-LOI execution.Learn legal dynamics from the VP and Director, including purchase agreements, disclosure schedules, and employment agreements.Financial Modeling & Investment Decks:
Analyze quality of earnings reports to understand underlying accounting policies and their implications.Develop financial models for acquisitions and synthesize outputs into presentation slides.Collaborate with business owners post-close to measure progress and refine plans.Work closely with the FP&A group to incorporate models into the broader financial ecosystem.Business Understanding and Growth Contribution:
Develop a deep understanding of the business and contribute to revenue growth by identifying and acting on opportunities.Understand revenue drivers, regulatory impacts, and strategic initiatives to enhance sales.Develop strong communication skills to articulate business opportunities and build relationships with founder-owners.Post-Close Integration Activities:
Transition financial knowledge to key stakeholders (FP&A/Analytics).Support business owners with financial insights, market knowledge, and value creation.Hold the integration team accountable to synergy assumptions and integration budgets.Assist accounting in understanding historical financial statements.What you'll need to succeed
