Location: Northern Ireland (fully remote/home-based); must permanently live and have the right to work in Northern Ireland without restrictions

Annual Salary: £23,000 pro rata (£9,200)

The Role:

Twinkl is currently looking for a Northern Ireland-based Content Writer to create engaging educational resources that meet the requirements of the Northern Ireland Primary Curriculum. This includes PowerPoints, display materials, activity sheets, planning resources and more. The content you write will be turned into professional Twinkl products by our highly skilled designers and illustrators.

Your weekly activity could include:

  • Meeting with other Northern Ireland team members to discuss new resource ideas;
  • Writing content to meet the requirements of the NI Curriculum;
  • Creating blog posts;
  • Researching current resource trends.

In this role, you will learn:

  • How to create new teacher content for our NI team;
  • About the process of resource creation at Twinkl, from ideation stage to publication on the site;
  • Remote collaboration, working closely with team members across the country and further afield.

You’ll work with:

  • Rachel Gamble - NI Teacher Team Leader
  • Susan Ferguson - Country Manager
  • Twinkl Content Editors, Content Writers, Designers, Illustrators

This position is remote and the hours can be worked flexibly with the expectation that you will have good daytime availability for training, meetings, collaboration and ongoing CPD, particularly in your training period/first month. You would need to be available around our core hours (10am-2pm) Mon-Fri, on a minimum of 2 days per week.

Remote working and hours:

  • Team members working 15 hours per week are expected to complete most of their work during the hours of 10:00 am- 2:00 pm on a minimum of two weekdays between Monday-Friday. You will need to have good daytime availability for training, meetings, collaboration and ongoing CPD, particularly in your training period/first month.
  • Remaining hours can be worked flexibly and agreed upon between you and your line manager to fit around your current commitments and business needs.
  • Essential for remote working - You will need access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6mb down and 1mb upload. We recommend you use speedtest.net to check.

Requirements

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Show a creative approach to teaching and learning;
  • Be a strong communicator, taking pride in your high-level spelling, punctuation and grammar skills;
  • Demonstrate excellent people skills, working with a close-knit team to create high quality resources;
  • Have detailed knowledge and understanding of both the Northern Ireland Curriculum and the needs of Northern Irish educators.

Essential requirements to apply: 

  • Qualifications: (BA(Ed), PGCE or equivalent).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ recent classroom teaching experience in a public primary school
  • Experience: In writing resource materials aligning with the NI Curriculum
  • Skills: High level of spelling, punctuation and grammar skills
  • Desirable skills: Proficiency in spoken and written Gaeilge (Ulster)
  • Access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6mb down and 1mb upload. We recommend you use speedtest.net to check
  • Has the Right to Work in NI on a permanent basis.
