Cloud Site Reliability Engineer

The Role: Cloud Site Reliability Engineer 

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at EOS Worldwide will work diligently to design, deploy, automate, and maintain modular, cloud-based solutions supporting continuous business operations while following industry best practices and company security policy.

The ideal candidate for this role will be able to perform risk-based assessments of the performance and integrity of the existing environments, recommend improvements, and lead efforts to implement those changes, sometimes with limited guidance or information. The SRE will also need to be knowledgeable in the processes and tools needed to automate deployment and recovery of EOS cloud applications.

The ideal candidate has experience in effective monitoring of cloud application environments and developing tools and processes to prevent incidents before they occur. Should an incident occur, the SRE will collaborate with various teams to conduct blameless root cause analyses, focusing on continuous improvement.

The candidate must be knowledgeable in cloud computing industry standards and a self-starter who will drive business preparedness for business certifications (e.g. SOC II) and privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, CPRA).

In this role, the candidate will work with other teams to promote best practices and can help educate others to promote company-wide improvement. The SRE will support problem resolution and align departmental processes with technology and business goals.

This position will report directly to EOS Worldwide’s Cybersecurity and IT Infrastructure Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must share EOS Worldwide’s Vision and Core Values.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains core infrastructure that enables application scaling to support hundreds of thousands of concurrent users.
  • Builds and maintains modular cloud-based solutions in accordance with industry best practices, business requirements, and corporate security policy.
  • Be on an on-call rotation to respond to incidents impacting EOS Application availability and support customer incidents.
  • Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
  • Ensures efficient functioning of EOS Applications, data storage, and processing functions in accordance with corporate security policy and cloud security best practices.
  • Regularly performs assessments of existing environments and makes recommendations for improvements; focuses on automating and preventing incidents from occurring.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves infrastructure vulnerabilities, availability, and application deployment issues.
  • Monitors and secures cloud environments, assesses whether maintenance and compliance strategies are effective, and researches and recommends enhancements as discovered.
  • Works with IT teams to develop and manage cloud and identity management tools.
  • Works with IT teams to develop and document formal system lifecycle processes to handle research, implementation, operation, upgrade/renewal, and decommissioning.
  • Supports analysis and efforts in support of security certifications (e.g. SOC II) and privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, CPRA).
  • Educates IT teams on the implementation of new cloud technologies and initiatives.
  • Assesses, updates, and develops, as needed, IT and information security processes and procedures.
  • Takes ownership of assigned tasks and projects, developing plans and following through on assignments until issues are resolved and closed.
  • Performs other tech/IT duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, programming, IT operations, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Other relevant training and/or certifications (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in an IT/Cloud Administrative role.
  • 3+ years of experience with object-oriented programming (e.g. C#, Go, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience with enterprise systems monitoring and APM tools (e.g., Azure Sentinel, Splunk, PagerDuty, etc.).
  • 1+ years of experience with development deployment and infrastructure as code tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Terraform, etc.).
  • 1+ years of experience in an SRE/dev(sec)ops role (preferred).
  • Proficient knowledge of IT automation, CI/CD pipeline, automation, metrics development and gathering.
  • Proficient knowledge/understanding of cloud operations, applications, cybersecurity concepts and industry best practices.
  • Experience with identity management technologies/products (e.g. SAML, Ping, Okta)
  • Proficient knowledge of various computer networks, monitoring, and firewall systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Detail and goal-oriented

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • ITIL experience and/or certification.
  • Project Management experience and/or certification..
  • Experience working in highly secure environments.

Location:​ Work from home position with occasional work travel/SE Michigan

Compensation:​ $110,000 base salary commensurate with experience, plus the potential for a performance-based bonus in addition to health benefits, life insurance, 401K match, tech stipend, flex-time, PTO, and more!
