We are looking for a Chief Technology Officer for our product Cupid Media.

Cupid Media is an online dating company that operates 33 active niche dating websites based on religion, ethnicity, lifestyle and special interests. The network of sites are available in multiple languages and since its founding in 2000, over 60 million singles have registered across the company's sites. Cupid Media is based on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Developing and implementing a technology strategy aligned with the organization's overall goals and objectives. This includes identifying emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact, and determining how they can be leveraged to drive innovation and business growth.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to the technology team. This involves setting technical standards, best practices, and ensuring the team has the necessary skills and resources to execute projects effectively.
  • Overseeing the design and development of the organization's technology infrastructure, including networks, systems, and applications. This involves making strategic decisions regarding technology selection, scalability, security, and integration to support the company's operations.
  • Staying informed about industry trends, advancements, and new technologies that may impact the organization. This includes conducting research, evaluating feasibility, and making recommendations for adopting innovative solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the technology department, ensuring smooth functioning of systems, networks, and applications. This includes overseeing IT support services, managing vendor relationships, and implementing processes to address issues and minimize downtime;
  • Ensuring the organization's data and information systems are secure from internal and external threats. This involves implementing robust security measures, data protection policies, compliance with regulations, and conducting regular audits to maintain data privacy and integrity;
  • Collaborating with other departments, executives, and stakeholders to understand their technology needs and aligning them with business objectives. Effectively communicating technology initiatives, progress, and challenges to the executive team and other stakeholders;
  • Building and managing a skilled and motivated technology team. This includes hiring, training, and retaining top talent, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning, and providing opportunities for professional growth and development;
  • Developing and managing the technology budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support projects, infrastructure, and initiatives. This involves evaluating costs, negotiating contracts, and optimizing the use of technology resources;
  • Identifying and mitigating technology-related risks, such as data breaches, system failures, or regulatory compliance issues. This includes implementing disaster recovery plans, business continuity strategies, and conducting risk assessments to safeguard the organization's technology assets.

We expect from you:

  • Experience with microservice architecture in B2C products.
  • You should have a strong background in software development methodologies, practices, and tools. This includes knowledge of agile development methodologies, version control systems, software testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes;
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, is crucial. Successful candidate should understand cloud architecture and be able to leverage cloud technologies for scalability, cost optimization, and efficiency;
  • A successful CTO stays up to date with emerging technologies and trends in the industry. This includes knowledge of advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), and other emerging technologies that may have potential applications within the organization;
  • With the increasing importance of cybersecurity, candidate will need a solid understanding of security principles, secure coding practices, vulnerability assessment, and threat mitigation strategies. Knowledge of industry standards and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR) is also essential to ensure the organization's technology infrastructure is secure and compliant;
  • The candidate will be responsible for managing relationships with technology vendors and making informed decisions regarding software and hardware procurement. This includes evaluating vendor offerings, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the organization obtains the most suitable and cost-effective solutions.
