Chief of Staff

Our Client is team of  investor-entrepreneurs. They are a new breed of venture capital firm: members of the team are business builders, not merely capital providers. Their unique model turns conventional VC on its head: they begin with their own business ideas, recruit management teams to execute on them, and then capitalize these ventures.

The process begins with a business idea that is validated over the course of several months with data and scores of conversations with industry experts, potential customers, and partners. Their validation process involves an intensive study of the value proposition to customers, the size of the addressable market, the competitive landscape of players, the plan to substantiate the unit economics, the budgets required to scale, the ideal profiles of the management team, adjacent markets that could be served as the company matures, and the possible paths to monetization. Our Client engages a board of advisors who are well-positioned to advise the management team and make valuable customer introductions. They consider who the best people are to run the asset, recruit the C-suite accordingly, and then work closely with our portfolio companies to support their growth.

The firm launched in 2021 and the ideal candidate is seeking an opportunity for significant responsibility in joining a close-knit and growing team. Role Overview

The role of Chief of Staff will work closely with our Founder to drive the firm's mission to develop and grow new portfolio companies by:

  • Being closely involved in the majority of the CEO's daily activities, including attending board meetings and updates with portfolio company management teams.
  • Over time, being able to make certain decisions concerning the management of certain aspects of the firm on behalf of the CEO.
  • Translating quarterly strategic goals into action items for the team.
  • Working with colleagues to ensure they are supported to be as effective as possible in their roles.
  • Supporting colleagues with development plans.
  • Overseeing investment operations and portfolio company operations resources.
  • Implementing systems and processes to maximize efficiency.
  • Ensuring company culture is maintained as the business grows.
  • Conducting outreach and calls with individuals or organizations that are strategically valuable.


The Chief of Staff will be working closely alongside the CEO to advance the running of the firm and provide leverage to the CEO.  This is a mission-critical role that requires strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong management skills in developing talent and translating strategic objectives into action plans.
  • Ideally experience in a startup environment, paired with either investment or management consulting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, track details, and provide the CEO with all the necessary information to facilitate and expedite decisions.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Affinity for joining a high-performing team that values collaboration, expectations of excellence, candor, and deep analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong desire for and demonstrated interest in network building.
