Brand Designer

Background/Requirements

This is a Mid-level Brand Designer position. 4–10 years of experience in a design role on projects that include design production — brand agency experience preferred. Our salary range for this remote opportunity is $55-75k. At Parisleaf, we expect a person in this role at this level to:

  • Accelerate proficiency and depth of knowledge
  • Follow industry and company best practices
  • Be comfortable receiving direction from others
  • Support facilitation in Partner-facing scenarios
  • Grow by developing autonomy in their work

About Parisleaf

We are a brand & digital agency that specializes in partnering with Nonprofits. Most of our work helps support fundraising efforts by building brands for major fundraising campaigns because, as we often say, money is mission fuel in the right hands.

We're seeking people who want to help purpose-driven brands turn their ambitions into reality. Thoughtful people who share our values of gratitude, responsibility, integrity, candor, and empathy. Curious people who believe good strategy and good design can drive business. We love making things for a living and are in it for the long haul. For us at Parisleaf, that means designing an agency culture that is built on love and grounded in integrity. Whether the role is in creative, operations, or business development, everyone at Parisleaf is dedicated to helping clients (or Partners, as we like to call them) find and show their purpose.

Our clients want to leave their corner of the world a little better than they found it. They seek creative partners who will advocate for their audience. They want substance and style. They hire us for who we are as much or more than what we do.

About You

Your process begins and ends with people.

Using your head, hands, and heart, you can effectively understand what a client needs and then run with it. You're honing your craft while developing autonomy and are focused on accelerating proficiency and depth of knowledge. Separating yourself from your work comes naturally to you, and you're able to approach any branding project in a healthy way that puts the client first. You're a motivated, resilient, self-starting, big-picture thinker and you love supporting those around you. You put function ½ a notch above form.

You know digital, you know print, and furthering your understanding of how a strong brand identity can tie it all together. You know you enough to know there's always more to learn. You crave this knowledge and are willing to go find it. For you, this isn't a job; it's a calling (that you happened to get paid for).

You are proactive and self-motivated. You possess strong verbal and written communication skills. You're comfortable presenting work to clients and listening for what they're not saying. You can defend your decisions with confidence and professionalism, but know when to stand down and not take it personally. You're not defensive, because you love feedback and always want to get better. You are curious, empathetic, and – most importantly – willing to set your ego aside for the greater good of clients and teammates.

The Opportunity

At Parisleaf, we write and design all kinds of things, but it always revolves around the brand. And we're on a mission to help our partners fundraise to help fuel their mission. Alongside our Creative Director, the next brand designer at Parisleaf will help us carry out this mission. You will work with our multidisciplinary team on projects ranging from brand foundation to activation. You'll put strategic approaches to work through design for brand guides, print collateral, web, video, and event design.

Though you will spend many hours designing in sweet solitude, this position is collaborative and client-facing. We are looking for someone who enjoys developing ideas with clients and colleagues and can then hunker down and create impactful designs that meet our partners' needs, showcase their truth, and exceed their expectations.

The Role

The Brand Designer will work closely with our creative, project management, business development, and leadership teams to help service the company and our partners' needs. Typical tasks include:

  • Researching and analyzing partner materials and competitive landscapes.
  • Reviewing discovery interviews for patterns and problem-finding.
  • Evaluating discovery insight reports to identify problem-solving opportunities.
  • Working with teammates to plan and facilitate collaborative workshops with our client partners.
  • Contributing ideas and researching potential conflicts for campaign themes and naming development.
  • Distilling messaging frameworks into visual concepts with collaborators.
  • Creating conceptual visual systems based on established messaging frameworks.
  • Simplifying brand and sub-brand complexities with thoughtfully crafted brand architectures.
  • Bringing visionary concepts to life through relevant and impactful examples of brand expression.
  • Developing thorough guidelines to help our client partners understand how best to channel and activate the brand.
  • Exporting assets (e.g. file formats) with accuracy and clear versioning for use in various brand touch points.
  • Organizing layers, folders, files, libraries, and directories, for quick findability, optimized collaboration, and detail-oriented workflows.
  • Using the Adobe creative suite, Figma, and other collaborative tools to create brand assets for our partners.
  • Activating our Brand Foundation work in creatively informative, engaging, and effective ways.
  • Communicating well in written and verbal contexts—especially in presentation formats.
  • Showcasing our portfolio of work through captivating case studies.
  • Marketing our work via intriguing visuals for social media platforms.
  • Sharing expertise through short- and long-form thought leadership in an effort to help us expand our reach and further grow partnerships.

This is a full-time, remote, salaried position commensurate with experience. We are a fully distributed team. Occasional travel is required.
