Working at Apollo

We are a remote-first inclusive organization focused on operational excellence.  Our way of working ensures clear expectations and an environment to do your best work with ample reward.

Job Description

In your role as a Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst, you will be responsible for implementing scalable analytics infrastructure from our highest value datasets, converting raw data into canonical models and insights that fuel business decision-making all the way up to the c-suite. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with numerous cross-functional partners in our General & Administrative (G&A) organization (i.e. Talent Acquisition) to standardize critical metrics and build intuitive self-service products on the following data stack: Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Hex.

As Apollo continues to grow, data will be a critical anchor to influence our strategy and thus, this role will have high visibility, agency, and autonomy to expand qualitative analysis at enterprise scale. Speaking more specifically, you’ll be cleansing, transforming, and modeling raw data (via dbt), and then transposing those golden, certified datasets into dashboards and analyses (Looker, Hex) that fuel faster and higher quality decision making.

Responsibilities & Outcomes

  1. Build golden, certified data tables (via dbt) to standardize instance and domain-level health, engagement, and behavioral signals critical to understanding how Talent Acquisition (TA) is performing, and recommending internal input and output metrics in the process
  2. Build source of truth dashboards (via Looker), allowing internal customers (executives, individual recruiters, and other key business partners) to more intuitively understand the areas of success and opportunity; these dashboards will drive monthly and quarterly reviews, and specific action plans to improve operations and tactics for the TA team
  3. Capture + catalog TA key performance indicators and their adjacent data products/lineage to help govern and democratize data discovery and literacy across the company, aligning the enterprise on the business and technical definitions of North Star Metrics (NSMs) for the TA team
  4. Work closely with People team to align on seamless integration of our HRIS to ensure we have the necessary workflows from recruiting to onboarding and overall talent management, and that critical data from our HRIS is appropriately acquired, modeled, and surfaced in relevant self-service tooling + critical dashboards & reports
  5. Innovate and champion key internal BI & Analytics development workflows and productivity initiatives aimed at optimizing efficiency, reducing cost, and heightening scalability for our overall data ecosystem

Competencies

  • As the conduit between data producers and data consumers, you are an empathic communicator that thinks critically and is intensely resourceful, using your tech savvy to build analytics products that articulate key trends and indicators about the health and efficiency of our business
  • While writing SQL is your biggest superpower, scalability and dependability are woven into the fabric of everything you architect, and you’re able to do this in a highly agile, intensely iterative environment

Experience

  • Experience with end-to-end analytics development is a must, inclusive of data modeling and data visualization experience; the ability to convert raw data into actionable insights and self-service products is mission-critical
  • In terms of specific BI tools, experience with Looker and dbt is strongly preferred
  • Quantitative background (professional and/or academic - Math, Statistics, Economics, or Engineering)
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL and relational data (preferably in MPP databases such as Snowflake)
  • Advanced SQL skills for analysis, standardizing queries, and building data infrastructure involving large-scale relational datasets

Nice-to-have: experience using Python to parse, structure, and transform data
