WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Associate Strategy Director is an integral part of the BASIC/DEPT® team. In this role you will guide or drive all aspects of developing products, services, and experiences for some of the best brands on earth. You will participate in hiring, mentoring, and managing talented colleagues; and partner with agency leadership to shape the Strategic services practice and offering.
While we are seeking candidates with broad experience across different types of work, the focus of this role will be on the intersection of brand, product, and customer experience across digital channels.
In this role, you will report to the Director of Strategy and will partner with them to drive the future of the Strategy discipline at BASIC/DEPT® including process, capabilities, and offering.
- Capable of defining digital product and CX strategy through the lens of brand to create genuinely differentiated products, services and systems.
- Comfortable applying critical analysis to various sources of data and analytics in order to distill meaningful insights for our teams and clients.
- Able to distill complicated things into simple ideas, and transform simple ideas into inspiring creative and design opportunities.
- Fluent in culture—what’s happening in the world, why is it happening—and be capable of applying that understanding to the work.

- Capable of designing, advising and, in some instances, executing primary qualitative and quantitative research.

- Skilled at building strong, influential relationships with clients at all levels and colleagues across all disciplines.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive digital strategy that aligns with clients’ business and brand objectives.
- Lead the identification and assessment of digital opportunities and challenges across multiple channels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement digital solutions rooted in human needs, to drive business and brand results.
- Track and measure the performance of initiatives, analyzing data to identify trends and make informed recommendations.
- Provide leadership to your clients, peers and day-to-day project teams.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, external partners, and internal teams.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest digital trends and technologies and generate insights that facilitate creative thinking and innovation.
- Build presentations and lead share-outs, check-ins, and presentations to every level of stakeholder from the day-to-day points-of-contacts all the way up to executives.
- Support and grow in the role by actively seeking out and proposing ideas to better improve company perspectives and operations.
- Travel for business purposes occasionally, as necessary.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Knowledge, communication and analytical skills equivalent to those normally obtained through receipt of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or equivalent years of additional related professional experience.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in strategic roles in some combination of fields related to product design, experience design, D2C, brand strategy, marketing, or analytics.
- Experience leading large strategic projects in partnership with senior clients.
- Experience and working knowledge of digital products and apps, websites, social, retail, CRM, digital marketing, content, and common analytics platforms.
- High-level of mastery of Google Suite, Keynote, Microsoft Office Suite, and various collaboration platforms (e.g. Slack, Teams, Webex, Zoom, etc).
- Light-level proficiency across Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Able to use leadership skills, strategic vision, and creative inspiration to work with a large but cohesive team of individuals from different backgrounds and disciplines.
- A long history of building strong relationships with colleagues and business partners.
- Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to lead discussions and workshops, build presentations, and confidently present and persuade in a professional and effective manner.
- Excellent organizational skills and a very high level of attention to detail.
- High level of ability to set goals and prioritize in a constantly changing environment.
This is a contract role with the possibility of a permanent conversion.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $120.00 an hour. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible.
