JOB TITLE: Associate Narrative Director
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for helping to ensure excellence in storytelling by directing the work of writers on selected portions of a game project's narrative content. This role provides a critical component of the studio's mission to create games that have a positive and lasting impact on players' lives by writing compelling stories and helping lead others to do the same.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Helps drive the creative process in developing characters, plot, and key storytelling moments by working with the Creative Director, story team, and other production members
• Works with Narrative Director and project leadership to help craft the narrative vision and exercises judgment and decision making to maintain it.
• Helps oversee execution of the story team to ensure quality expectations are being met.
• Processes feedback from multiple sources to help set priorities for a portion of the game’s narrative content.
• Participates in or leads writer’s room sessions for brainstorming, story development, and narrative problem solving.
• Writes scripts for games with emphasis on complete description of scenes and characters (camera moves, facial expressions, sets, lighting, etc.)
• Writes scripts for real-time and cinematic sequences, and coordinates with various groups to get them implemented.
• Regularly reviews scripts by other writers and gives thoughtful feedback.
• Regularly plays games in development to assess work through the player’s view.
• Remains abreast of all design changes that require script updates, rewrites, and down-stream production plans.
• Acts as a point of contact for other departments; bridges the gaps between narrative design and execution and works closely with other developers to problem-solve for narrative presentations.
• Provides feedback on improving presentation elements ranging from VO (Voice Over) implementation to visual elements connected with the overarching story.
• Helps maintain schedule and scope on selected portions of a project during various stages of production.
• Demonstrates an understanding of resource limitations and works closely with other production departments to find creative solutions to complex story problems.

• helps oversee a team of writers and narrative coordinators on a project. Responsibilities include training employees; helping with planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and mentoring team members as appropriate.
