Application Scientist - Data

About us

Nomic was founded with the purpose of making biology easier to understand. To do this, we are untangling some of the most difficult problems in protein profiling and measurement.

Our team has combined DNA nanotechnology, high-dimensional flow cytometry, laboratory automation, and machine learning to develop the world’s highest throughput proteomic platform: the nELISA. Today, every nELISA ‘unit cell’ is zipping at 300,000 proteins per day. In short, we are trying to do for proteomics what Illumina did for DNA sequencing.

We are building a diverse team of engineers, scientists, and world-changers. We like to break down difficult problems using a first principles approach, leveraging the latest breakthroughs from across the scientific and technological spectrum to drive our mission forward.

About the Role

We are seeking an Application Scientist to support scientists utilizing the nELISA platform today.

Currently, the nELISA is being utilized by over 30 big-pharmas, biotech companies, and academic institutions. Data visualization and analysis play a crucial role in their research endeavors. Your responsibility will involve assisting scientists in the application of our data product, which comprises nELISA datasets and custom interactive data reports. This support will enable them to swiftly and accurately address their research questions.

This position provides a unique opportunity to engage and learn from scientists employed by leading biopharma companies and revolutionary startups. Regular customer interactions and meetings are an integral part of the job. Through these interactions, you will gain important understanding into the scientists’ research questions, and then turn raw nELISA signals into rapidly impactful data reports for the scientists.

As an Application Scientist, your role will contribute to our understanding of customers as we expand and integrate data reporting and visualization. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on our ambitious quest to level-up our understanding of biology.

This opportunity lies within our Product Team, requiring interaction with both our sales and customer relationship areas.

We're looking for someone who has:
  • A master's or PhD in biology, bioinformatics, data science, or related fields.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and within a codebase) and the ability to solve problems independently.

  • 3+ years of experience in Python.

  • A passion for data visualization.

  • Experience or a strong interest in working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Please apply if you:
  • Deeply resonate with our mission, ambition, and sense of duty. Our technology was developed to enhance biological measurements and assist scientists in discovering life-saving therapeutics and diagnostics. We believe that our hard work to bring this technology to fruition is not only our duty as scientists and engineers but also as children and parents.

  • Thrive on challenges. We are a team of problem-solvers who continuously push ourselves and venture into uncharted territories. We embrace a growth mindset and rely on each other to provide critical and candid feedback to help us reach our full potential.

  • Love cutting-edge biotechnology. The nELISA is a novel tool that leverages DNA nanotechnology to generate proteomic data more efficiently than ever before. You will have the opportunity to shape the way users and ourselves interact with nELISA data moving forward.

  • Enjoy working and collaborating within a diverse cross-functional team. You will regularly interface with colleagues from the Engineering, Operations, and Product teams.
